Put It Forward

If you want to create a positive environment around you, then start to “put it forward”.

What do I mean by “​put it forward”?

I mean put the positive energy forward, then positive things will start to happen.

How do you feel when you do a good deed for someone?

You feel good I hope!!

Knowing that you have done something good to help someone else actually releases a chemical within your body called oxytocin, this chemical is released by carrying out acts of human kindness and gives you a strong sense of well being.

The recipient of the good deed also feels good and appreciates this act of kindness.

This is where it gets good; because the recipient also has a release of oxytocin, feeling compelled to do the same for someone else; another act of kindness, in other words, to “put it forward”.

This generates a positive outcome and creates a snowball effect onto others; producing a feeling of happiness and well being with a desire to help others.

Now this doesn’t have to be anything major, it can be as simple as helping an elderly person across the road, taking the time to train somebody at work, or even just paying someone a genuine compliment.

So the next time that you think that you may have an opportunity to “put it forward”, just try it, and notice the effects on yourself and others.

Making Time

It’s been quite a while since I have written a post on here for my website.

I nearly called this post “Busy Life” instead of “Making Time”, however I thought the first title was more fitting.

The reason that I say this is that most of us have busy lives to contend with, so having a busy life can’t be used as an excuse. It’s about slowing down and making the time to do the things that matter.

As I sit here and type these words, I am waiting to have an operation on my knee for a split cartilage, not a major operation by any means, however one that has made me slow down and appreciate things.

As I look out of my ward window, I have become really aware of how green and wonderful the trees look; as they intermingle with each other and the landscape, I have a sense of really appreciating nature; I have become aware of the clouds, the sky and just how everything is connected and fits together.

These few moments have reminded me just how much everything really is connected, how everything has a role and a part to play in nature and the positive effects that this as on us as human beings.

I have really become aware of my 5 senses, sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. I truly feel that I have understood and acknowledged just how important they are and much they help me to live in the present moment.

So much so; that I feel compelled to write this down and share with others, so they too can remind themselves to slow down and make some time for themselves and enrich the qualities of their lives and those around them.

There are always opportunities going on around you all the time, although many times they may be missed or just simply go unnoticed.

You can train your mind to really make the most of every situation, taking a positive from every experience that is presented to you.

Although some experiences may seem stressful, demanding and not particularly pleasant, you can use these situations to really drive you forward to achieve a positive outcome, turning a negative into a positive to achieve your goals and wishes.

Simply just pausing, reflecting and identifying the opportunities that exist around you  can make the biggest difference to your thoughts and therefore your life.

The quality of our life is greatly influenced by the perception of our world and the events and experiences that create it.

Choosing an attitude of gratitude will go a long way in ensuring that you are grateful for the good people, experiences and opportunities that are around you. Choose to see them and you will, choose to be grateful for them and this will help you to keep even more positive.

There are times in our lives when we are in situations that do not feel beneficial for us, however!!!

There is a quote that I use and have found it useful many times throughout my life, it is :-

“If you don’t like something, change it”

“If you can’t change it, change the way that you look at it until you can”

This will ensure that you remain positive within yourself until the change that you desire takes place, and give you a sense of well being from within.

Thought for the day

As human beings we are blessed with a precious gift, known to me and you as our mind.

With our mind’s we have the power and ability to select our thoughts, attitudes and perceptions.

Happiness does not depend on who you are or what you have, it solely relies on what you think.

It is a thought process, one which fortunately we are able to manage ourselves.

Choosing a positive outlook can make a colossal change to the way one perceives the world.

Making a conscious change can have a significant effect on the sub-conscious. Using self hypnosis to reinforce the change can be of significant value, understanding and unleashing the power of the sub-conscious mind is key.
